The National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS) is a flagship initiative by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), Government of India, aimed at promoting apprenticeship training across the country. It is designed to boost employment opportunities for youth while helping industries develop a skilled workforce.


 Key Objectives of NAPS

  • Encourage establishments to engage more apprentices by offering financial incentives.
  • Bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical experience.
  • Foster industry-ready skills to enhance employability.
  • Promote industry-institute partnerships for real-time skill development.

Features of NAPS

  • Reimbursement of 25% of the prescribed stipend (up to ₹1,500/month) to establishments by the Government.
  • Basic Training Cost reimbursement up to ₹7,500 per apprentice (if conducted through Basic Training Providers).
  • Open to students, ITI graduates, diploma holders, and graduates.
  • Applicable to MSMEs, large industries, and service providers.

School pass-outs (Class 5th–12th)

National or State Certificate holders (including ITI)

Technician apprentice (Diploma holder)

Graduate apprentice (Degree holder)

Age-18-35
